General Discussion:

Jay reported that the club currently has 46 paid members.

After some discussion of how to solicit new members, Ron Grooms agreed to send a thank you letter to new members.

Jay suggested that the club change its membership year to January 1 to December 31.  The fees should be raised to $20.00 for new members and $30.00 for a family membership.  Dues will no longer be prorated.  Jay’s proposals were approved by voice vote.

Further discussion of membership suggested that the club should expand efforts to recruit new members my emphasizing the benefits of membership such as insurance coverage.

A discussion of the club’s charitable donations was pursued.  It was agreed that $300.00 will be donated to Helping Hands and $700.00 to the PCC.

Old Business:

Discussion continued on how to deal with riders who show up at club rides without a helmet.  It was ultimately agreed that since there is no state law that requires a rider to wear a helmet, and the insurance policy does not require a helmet to be worn, the club should settle on strongly recommending that a helmet be worn.  It was further agreed that the club should require riders without a helmet to sign a waiver of liability to hold the club harmless in case of an accident.  The club could not agree on the logistics of how to accomplish this task, and this item was tabled.

New Business:

Ron Grooms advised club members to check their home owner’s policy to see if coverage is afforded for bicycles.  Some provide coverage.

It was suggested that the club develop a ride calendar, and provide a more expanded description of the Tuesday and Thursday rides.  Perhaps an A and B group should be established.

The meeting was adjourned at or about 8:00 PM.
